Vibrant Health Advocates was registered as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) with the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator on 6 November 2024, under Scottish Charity Number SC053758. We were founded by a small group of trustees in Edinburgh after years of front-line work in Scotland's voluntary health sector.
Our work begins from a simple observation: most people don't get worse health outcomes because the information doesn't exist — they get worse outcomes because the information doesn't reach them in a form they can use. NHS guidance is excellent but dense. Charity literature is often pitched at the already-informed. Health-system jargon excludes the people who most need to navigate it.
What we do, in plain terms
We translate, accompany, and connect. We translate official health guidance into plain English (and other community languages where we can). We accompany people through appointments, applications, and entitlement claims they'd otherwise face alone. We connect community-level wellness programmes with the people who'll benefit most — particularly women, families, and under-served groups that the system tends to lose track of.
How we're governed
As a SCIO we are accountable to OSCR, to our membership, and to the communities we work in. Our board of charity trustees meets quarterly and reviews every programme against the public benefit our constitution sets out. We don't accept commercial sponsorship that compromises our independence, and we keep our administrative costs low so that as much of our resource as possible reaches people directly.
Where we operate
We are based in Edinburgh and operate across central Scotland, with active programmes in the Lothians, Fife, and Glasgow. We partner with community organisations rather than duplicating their work, and many of our advocates are themselves volunteers from the communities they serve.
